Merten's World

About me

I’m Merten Dahlkemper, a physicist with a passion for unraveling the mysteries of the universe and sharing that wonder with others. This makes me an enthusiast and advocate for Open Science.

My journey

From studying the metallicity trends in globular clusters to developing educational materials for particle physics, my career has been driven by curiosity and a desire to connect seemingly unrelated ideas.

  • PhD in Physics Education Research from the University of Göttingen

  • Current role: Open Science Community Engagement Manager at CERN (since February 2025)

  • Past experiences: Research in astrophysics, university teaching, science communication, and science policy
  • Publications and Presentations: I have listed all the articles I have (co-)authored as well as the presentations and talks I have presented at scientific conferences here.

Beyond the lab

When I’m not immersed in the world of subatomic particles or distant stars, you’ll find me:

  • Capturing moments through my camera lens
  • Exploring new corners of the world
  • Sharing knowledge about alpacas and other camelids in my Alpaca Advent Calendar
  • Developing Games and other Applications to explore the world

I believe in the power of knowledge sharing and the importance of scientific literacy in our modern world.
